mY story

A Detroit native and 2006 University of Michigan graduate, I've spent nearly two decades building brands, communities, and cultural relevance at the intersection of sports, media, creators, and technology.

Today, I serve as Senior Director of Global Social Media Strategy at Under Armour, where I lead the brand's global social marketing efforts across Under Armour, Basketball, Football,  Running, Baseball, Sportswear, and additional category and athlete platforms. My work focuses on helping brands move beyond content calendars and campaigns to build lasting audience relationships through culture, community, creators, and storytelling.

Over the course of my career, I've helped shape how some of the most recognizable brands and organizations in sports show up in culture. From developing creator-led franchises and entertainment platforms to launching social-first campaigns and athlete storytelling initiatives, I've worked to transform social media from a distribution channel into a true business and brand-building engine.

Prior to Under Armour, I served as Director of Digital Marketing & Strategy at Roc Nation Sports, where I led content, creative, and digital strategy across a roster of more than 100 professional athletes spanning the NBA, NFL, MLB, WNBA, soccer, esports, and emerging talent. Working directly with athletes including LaMelo Ball, Jaire Alexander, Saquon Barkley, and Jalen Rose, I helped build their digital presence, grow audience engagement, create partnership opportunities, and strengthen long-term brand equity.

Before Roc Nation, I spent nearly three years at Major League Soccer as Senior Manager of Social Media Strategy. There, I led enterprise social strategy across league platforms while helping launch and scale eMLS, the league's esports property.

My career began at St. John's University, where I spent more than a decade helping lead the athletic department's evolution across digital media, creative services, licensing, sponsorship, branding, and fan engagement. That experience provided a foundation that shaped how I think about storytelling, audience development, and building organizations that can adapt to changing consumer behavior.

Outside of my professional role, I continue to create and consult through Mekale Jackson Creative, where I explore the intersection of sports, culture, design, photography, and storytelling. My creative work has generated millions of organic impressions and has been featured, shared, and utilized by professional teams, media companies, athletes, and brands across the sports industry.

I also serve on the Board of Directors for the Akello Bomani Foundation, a Detroit-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting and empowering young Black men through mentorship, resources, and educational opportunities.At the center of everything I do is a simple belief:
